Whether it’s the up-and-down real estate market or rising grocery prices, it seems like everyone has reason to be a little stressed. But, according to a new report, the level of stress you feel may also be influenced by where you live.

Earlier this year, WalletHub ranked the “most and least stressed” U.S. states. The report compares all 50 states on 41 metrics, including: unemployment rate, income growth, separation and divorce rate, mental health, and unaffordability of doctor visits.

For the final ranking, cities were scored on four key dimensions:

  • Work-related stress
  • Money Stress
  • Family-related stress
  • Health and safety stress

WalletHub used data from the US Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other agencies to determine the results.

The study also ranked the highest and lowest states in individual categories such as average hours of sleep per night, psychologists per capita and average hours worked per week.

Mississippi is ranked as the most stressed state in the United States. He has the highest rate of money-related stress. Although the state offers the lowest cost of living in the country, it also has one of the least educated and least productive workforces in America, as well as one of the worst migration rates of workers, according to CNBC.

On the opposite end of the spectrum are the least stressed states, including Utah, Connecticut and South Dakota. Places like Hawaii and Florida, both of which have been named among the nation’s happiest states, aren’t in this top 10.
